Giants Re-Sign Osleivis Basabe to Minor-League Contract

The 25-year-old returns on a non-roster pact after a full season at Triple-A Sacramento.

Baseball America's Matt Eddy reported the agreement, which keeps Basabe off the 40-man roster on a minor-league deal.
Basabe spent 2025 with Triple-A Sacramento, hitting .249/.309/.412 with 14 home runs over 477 plate appearances while playing shortstop, second base, and third base.
Acquired from the Rays in February, he was outrighted from San Francisco's 40-man roster in June and became eligible for minor-league free agency after the season.
His only major-league experience came with Tampa Bay in 2023, when he batted .218 across 31 games.
He projects as organizational depth given established infielders Matt Chapman and Willy Adames and second-base options Casey Schmitt, Tyler Fitzgerald, and Christian Koss.
