GiantsCam Skattebo Diagnosed With Dislocated Ankle, Fibula Fracture and Ligament Rupture as 4–6 Month Rehab Is Forecast

After emergency surgery to close an open wound, the rookie is expected to target OTAs pending an infection-free recovery.

Overview

  • NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reported the additional damage beyond the dislocation: a fractured fibula and ruptured deltoid ligament, with a projected 4–6 month recovery window.
  • Brian Daboll said surgery in Philadelphia was successful and described a long rehab, noting Skattebo is back at the facility and attending meetings.
  • The Giants placed Skattebo on injured reserve on Oct. 28, ending his rookie season after 101 carries for 410 rushing yards and five touchdowns plus 24 receptions for 207 yards and two scores.
  • The injury occurred in Week 8 against the Eagles on a tackle by linebacker Zack Baun, creating an open fracture that required immediate surgery to reduce infection risk.
  • With Skattebo out and Malik Nabers already lost to an ACL tear, New York will lean on Tyrone Tracy Jr. and Devin Singletary as the 2–6 Giants regroup on offense.
