Giant Panda on Loan to Thailand Zoo from China Dies Suddenly at Age 21

A panda named Lin Hui died unexpectedly at a zoo in Chiang Mai, Thailand where she had lived for over 20 years.
Lin Hui had been on loan from China as part of a conservation program and was due to return in October.
The cause of Lin Hui's death is unknown, though she fell ill Tuesday morning and zoo officials were unable to save her.
Lin Hui leaves behind her daughter Lin Ping, born in 2009, though her mate Chuang Chuang died in 2019 at the age of 19.
Lin Hui's death comes as a shock and China will investigate to determine the cause.
