Giant Eagle Foundation Pledges $1 Million to Food Banks Across Five States

Overview

• The company said the funds will support regional hunger-relief partners in Pennsylvania, Ohio, West Virginia, Indiana and Maryland.
• Giant Eagle also launched a checkout campaign through Dec. 24 at more than 200 Giant Eagle and Market District stores.
• Every dollar raised at registers is directed to the local food bank serving the community where the donation is made.
• The pledge builds on weekly fresh-food donations that the company says equal roughly 20 million meals each year.
• President and CEO Bill Artman credited food bank partners for their leadership and publicly announced the foundation’s commitment on Oct. 30.
