GHMC Town Planning Supervisor Arrested for Rs 4 Lakh Bribe

Telangana ACB investigators say the arrest follows allegations the planner tried to bypass formal Deputy Commissioner orders.

Overview

  • A Town Planning Supervisor posted in GHMC's Golkonda Zone was arrested by the Telangana Anti-Corruption Bureau on Monday after she allegedly accepted a part payment of a Rs 4 lakh bribe.
  • ACB officials say the officer had demanded a total of Rs 8 lakh to ignore formal 'Speaking Orders' issued by the Deputy Commissioner so a complainant could continue disputed building work without enforcement.
  • The ACB recovered the Rs 4 lakh alleged bribe from the accused and also seized an additional Rs 2.5 lakh in unaccounted cash from her possession.
  • In its release the ACB said the officer performed her duties improperly to obtain undue advantage and has opened a criminal probe that may lead to formal charges and departmental action.
  • The case highlights risks to municipal enforcement and building safety when officials are alleged to solicit bribes, and further ACB steps and GHMC responses will determine whether broader inspection or policy changes follow.
