Overview

  • Two men—Pastor Vinod, originally from Kerala and living in Sahibabad, and local resident Premchand Jatav—were taken into custody on June 16 after a complaint at the Crossing Republic Police Station
  • Complainant Prabal Gupta, a Bajrang Dal member, alleged that Pastor Vinod offered cash and kind to Scheduled Caste attendees at Jatav’s weekly Sunday prayer meetings
  • Assistant Commissioner Priyashree Pal confirmed a case under relevant legal sections has been registered and said investigators have gathered initial evidence but reached no conclusions
  • Neighbors of Jatav, including Satish Anand, insist the prayer gatherings never included calls for conversion
  • Authorities say further legal proceedings will depend on the outcome of current evidence collection during the ongoing probe
