GetGo Launches Drive to Malaysia Cross-Border Carsharing

The app replaces deposits and per-kilometre fees with capped daily surcharges to give Singapore drivers a simpler, price‑predictable option for self-drive trips into West Malaysia.

Overview

  • GetGo publicly launched the Drive to Malaysia feature on Tuesday, Sept 1, 2026, allowing eligible Singapore users to book vehicles in the app and drive them into Peninsular Malaysia.
  • The service removes mileage charges and deposits and applies a 30% cross-border surcharge on time charges that is capped by vehicle category at set daily rates.
  • Bookings require a minimum 12-hour hire, allow up to five days per trip, and can be made up to 30 days in advance through the GetGo app.
  • GetGo offers optional collision damage waiver and Enhanced CDW cover and permits a pre-registered co-driver so two insured drivers can share a single cross-border booking.
  • The launch follows a pilot that drew strong interest and uses GetGo’s fleet of more than 3,000 vehicles across 1,700+ Singapore locations, and it arrives ahead of the planned Johor Bahru–Singapore RTS Link opening in January 2027 which could reshape cross-causeway travel demand.
