Gervonta Davis Sued Over Alleged Miami Strip-Club Assault as Police Open Inquiry

The civil filing arrives two weeks before his scheduled exhibition with Jake Paul.

Overview

  • Court records show Courtney Rossel filed a civil complaint on Oct. 30 in Miami-Dade County accusing Davis of battery, aggravated battery, false imprisonment, kidnapping and intentional infliction of emotional distress, seeking compensatory and punitive damages and a jury trial.
  • The complaint alleges an Oct. 27 incident at Tootsie's Cabaret around 4:15 a.m., saying Davis grabbed, dragged, choked and struck Rossel after locating her in an upstairs VIP lounge and moving her through nonpublic areas into the parking garage.
  • A police report was filed with the Miami Gardens Police Department, which is pursuing security-camera footage from the venue, and a department spokesperson told TMZ that Davis has been named as the suspect.
  • Davis’ trainer Calvin Ford dismissed the lawsuit as “nonsense,” while representatives for Most Valuable Promotions and Netflix have not issued substantive public comments.
  • The Nov. 14 Jake Paul exhibition remains on the schedule, though Sports Illustrated reports Paul’s team is exploring potential replacement opponents following the allegations, and Davis’ prior legal history includes dropped domestic-related charges in July and probation from a 2023 hit-and-run case.
