Overview
- The IAB reported that the number of part-time workers rose 1.3% year over year to 16.971 million in the second quarter.
- Full-time employment declined 0.7% to 25.352 million, leaving full-time jobs more than 200,000 below their peak, according to IAB expert Enzo Weber.
- Part-time employees worked an average of 18.62 hours per week, the highest on record, while full-time averaged 38.31 hours.
- Overall employment edged to about 46 million, essentially unchanged from the prior quarter after seasonal adjustment.
- Workers holding a secondary job increased 2.5% to 4.64 million, continuing a long-term upward trend.
