Overview
- Kinofest is scheduled for 12–13 September 2026, when participating cinemas across Germany will offer every film and seat for €5 per person.
- The promotion is run by cinema associations HDF Kino and AllScreens, and organizers say hundreds of cinemas are taking part after prior editions drew roughly 1.65 million visits over two days.
- Local venues in the Braunschweig region confirmed participation, including Astor Braunschweig, Cinemaxx Wolfsburg, Roxy-Theater-Lichtspiele and Camera am Holzberg; Astor reported about 10,000 visitors during last year’s Kinofest.
- Astor Braunschweig will hold a Saturday flea market to raise money for the Braunschweiger Tafel and run children’s 'Mitmachkino' sessions at 12:15 and 14:30 on both days, while in Hessen Culture Minister Timon Gremmels is scheduled to appear at Filmpalast Kassel on Sunday at 17:00 and Ministerpräsident Boris Rhein is the regional patron.
- Organizers and cinemas say the low flat price aims to widen access to filmgoing, boost footfall for small and mid-sized houses, and generate local fundraising and community engagement that could help sustain audiences after the weekend.
