Overview

  • The citizen-driven audit found roughly 98 percent of measurement points logged on 4G or 5G networks and identified dead zones at under 1 percent of locations.
  • Service shortfalls exceeded 1.1 percent in Baden-Württemberg and Rheinland-Pfalz and reached 2.25 percent 2G-only coverage in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern.
  • Parts of the Harz region recorded up to 2.4 percent of measurement points without any signal and 3.4 percent restricted to 2G service.
  • More than 150,000 participants used the Funkloch-App to submit around 145 million anonymized data points covering about 16 percent of Germany’s land area.
  • The Federal Ministry for Digital Affairs plans to expand the Mobilfunkmesswoche to prioritize targeted network upgrades in the most underserved regions.
