Germany's 2024 Pasta Imports Hit Record, 86% Sourced From Italy

Overview

  • Germany imported roughly 469,700 tonnes of pasta in 2024 worth €646.6 million, up 9.1% from 2023 and 25.9% compared with 2014.
  • Italy supplied 86.0% of those imports (about 404,100 tonnes), with Austria at 3.6% (about 16,800 tonnes) and Turkey at 1.5% (about 7,200 tonnes).
  • Exports reached about 108,200 tonnes valued at €168.5 million, rising 12.6% year over year and more than doubling over ten years (+133.6%).
  • France (23.2%), the United Kingdom (20.1%), and Poland (9.1%) were the top destinations for German pasta exports in 2024.
  • Domestic output totaled about 289,800 tonnes as egg‑free production (about 148,400 tonnes) exceeded egg‑containing output (about 141,400 tonnes), reflecting a decade-long rise of 92.8% for egg‑free and a 25.5% decline for egg‑containing.
