Germany to Replace Flat Disability and Survivor Pension Supplement on Dec. 1, 2025

Roughly three million recipients face individualized recalculations that can trigger one-time back payments, with new notices carrying a short appeal window.

Overview

  • The flat top‑up under Section 307j SGB IV remains in place through Nov. 30, 2025, then shifts to an integrated, individualized regime under Section 307i starting Dec. 1.
  • From the cutoff date of Nov. 30, recalculations use each person’s insurance periods and pension points, and the resulting amount will move dynamically with future pension adjustments.
  • If the newly calculated total exceeds the previous pension plus the supplement, a one‑time payment covers the gap for the 17‑month transition from July 2024 to November 2025.
  • If the new calculation yields a lower amount, pension insurance will not reclaim any sums previously paid via the flat supplement.
  • All affected beneficiaries will receive new pension notices from Dec. 1 and are urged to review them promptly because appeals must be filed within four weeks.
