Overview
- The DWD warns on Wednesday of thunderstorms with heavy rain, small hail and gusts up to around 70 km/h, first in the north and northeast as well as the southwest, with the risk spreading in the evening toward parts of Bavaria and overnight from Ostsachsen to Vorpommern.
- Localized downpours could reach 30 liters per square meter in a short time and up to 40 liters overnight in the northeast, following flooding in parts of western Germany on Tuesday.
- Northern and northeastern areas, including Hamburg and Schleswig-Holstein, stay mostly cloudy with repeated showers and isolated storms, while Mecklenburg-Vorpommern can reach about 24°C with locally intense rain.
- In the south, especially Baden-Württemberg, the pattern remains unsettled with frequent showers and isolated thunderstorms, with highs generally 15–19°C in rain and up to about 21°C along the Upper Rhine.
- Rainbands shift east overnight into Thursday with brief clear spells, then further showers return Thursday and Friday as southwest winds freshen and bring strong gusts at coasts and in higher terrain, before a forecast brief warm-up well above 20°C this weekend into early next week.
