Germany Sets Major Weekend Autobahn Closures as A7 Elbtunnel, A3 Duisburg and A661 Shut

  • The A7 between Hamburg-Stellingen and Hamburg-Heimfeld, including the Elbtunnel, will be fully closed from Friday, Nov. 7 at 22:00 to Monday, Nov. 10 at 05:00 for sign-gantry installation and tunnel-control testing, with on- and off-ramps shutting from 21:00 and signed detours via A1, A21 and B205.
  • The A3 near Duisburg will be closed in both directions from Friday, Nov. 7 at 21:00 to Monday, Nov. 17 at 05:00 between Kreuz Oberhausen-West and Kreuz Breitscheid for bridge demolition at Kreuz Kaiserberg, with wide detours routed via A524, A59 and A42 and some ramp links remaining shut until mid‑2027.
  • Near Frankfurt, the A661 toward Oberursel-Nord will be fully closed from Friday, Nov. 7 at 22:00 to Monday, Nov. 10 around 04:00 for resurfacing, and at the Offenbacher Kreuz the A3 southbound will close Saturday 17:00 to Sunday 17:00 as a temporary A661 bridge is lifted in, alongside related ramp restrictions.
  • Preparatory works include a full closure of the A7 Grenztunnel Füssen from Wednesday, Nov. 5 at 18:00 to Thursday, Nov. 6 at 06:00 for milling and asphalt, with signed diversions via Austria’s B179 and regional routes.
  • Authorities cite roughly 1,100 active roadworks nationwide and urge drivers to avoid the affected corridors or use rail, with additional regional impacts such as an A40 shutdown in Duisburg from Saturday morning to early Monday.
