Germany Selects 'Die Saat des heiligen Feigenbaums' for 2025 Oscars

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences announced that 85 countries have submitted films for the 2025 Oscars' Best International Feature Film category.
Germany's entry, 'Die Saat des heiligen Feigenbaums,' explores the impact of political protests in Iran on a family and was primarily produced in Germany.
The film was directed by Mohammad Rasoulof, an Iranian filmmaker who fled to Germany, and was selected by German Films in August 2024.
The shortlist of 15 films will be revealed on December 17, 2024, with final nominations announced on January 17, 2025.
The 97th Academy Awards ceremony is scheduled to take place on March 2, 2025, in Los Angeles.
