Germany Seeks 535 Right-Wing Extremists as Arrest Warrants Mount

Opposition lawmakers urge police to prioritize enforcement, citing the high share of violent offenses.

Overview

  • New Interior Ministry data list 714 unexecuted arrest warrants linked to the 535 wanted suspects.
  • Authorities say 115 of those sought are abroad, including 20 in Poland and 13 in Austria, with 39 wanted for violent crimes.
  • About one third of the outstanding cases concern violent offenses, according to Linke lawmaker Clara Bünger.
  • The domestic intelligence agency recorded 37,835 right-wing extremist crimes in 2024, a 47.4% rise from 2023, including 1,281 violent acts.
  • The current tally is slightly below the 555 reported in January 2025 and far lower than 915 in 2022, as a Bielefeld study reports waning public support for extremist views.
