Overview
- Since the May 7 decree, authorities have barred 474 asylum seekers from crossing land borders and removed one individual after an illegal entry.
- Children, pregnant women and other vulnerable persons are exempt from immediate refusals, and 110 have successfully applied for asylum at border points.
- A total of 418 people were turned away under existing re-entry bans and one more was refused entry over a serious criminal conviction in Germany.
- Border operations led to provisional arrests of 450 suspected smugglers and the detention of 2,220 individuals with outstanding arrest warrants.
- Officers also screened and identified 366 people linked to extremist movements, spanning left-wing, right-wing and Islamist networks.
