Overview

  • Die ROSTOCKER Wurst- und Schinkenspezialitäten GmbH has pulled Frühstücksknacker packs marked batch 335501 with best-before dates from July 27 to August 9 after routine tests detected Salmonella.
  • Franz Wiltmann GmbH & Co. KG has issued a precautionary recall of its 70 g Rein Rind Salami, batch L2517700010 with best-before dates of August 14, 21 and 25, following the discovery of Shigatoxin-producing E. coli.
  • Both products were sold nationwide through retailers including Rewe, Edeka, Netto and Kaufland and can be returned for a full refund without presenting a receipt.
  • Health authorities warn that Salmonella infections can cause fever, vomiting and diarrhoea in vulnerable groups and that STEC contamination may lead to bloody diarrhoea and, in rare cases, acute kidney failure.
  • These recalls are the latest in a string of withdrawals since May that have exposed vulnerabilities in Germany’s meat supply chain and accelerated calls for enhanced regulatory testing.
