Germany Readies June Consumer, Mobility and Energy Changes

A cluster of EU and national measures will simplify online cancellations, tighten product labels, reshape summer travel offers, alter fuel costs, and expand local solar sharing.

Overview

  • From 19 June websites and apps must display a one‑click Widerruf button so consumers can withdraw many online contracts within the legal withdrawal period with a single visible click.
  • EU 'breakfast' rules take effect on 14 June and force clearer product composition and origin labels, for example requiring honey to list origin countries with percentage shares and increasing the fruit content required in jams.
  • Deutsche Bahn will launch mid‑June summer offers including a Familienticket for €99.99 valid for up to five travellers on a return long‑distance trip with seat reservations and a free BahnCard 25 for 6–18 year‑olds for the summer period.
  • A temporary fuel‑tax cut introduced in May is scheduled to end at the close of June unless extended, a change that will likely raise pump prices for motorists once the relief expires.
  • Energy rules and incentives are moving now: owners can sell or share surplus PV power with neighbours, a federal EV purchase/lease subsidy of up to €6,000 has been available since 20 May, and Germany has not yet published a draft law to transpose the EU pay‑transparency directive.
