Germany Publishes Full Schedule for 2027 Ice Hockey World Championship

Organisers confirmed a large Schalke opener, formal ticket windows and free-to-air ProSieben coverage to shape the home tournament's build-up.

Overview

  • Organisers unveiled the detailed German match schedule at a Düsseldorf press conference on Monday, September 7, 2026, naming the opening game as Switzerland vs Germany on 13 May 2027 at 20:20 in the Veltins-Arena on Schalke.
  • Germany will play the rest of its Group A preliminary games in Mannheim between 13 and 25 May with fixtures against Austria (15 May), Ukraine (16 May), Finland (19 May), Slovenia (20 May), Latvia (22 May) and Sweden (25 May).
  • The tournament runs from 13 to 30 May 2027 with Group B and the semifinal and final weekend scheduled for Düsseldorf on 29 and 30 May.
  • Ticketing details were published with a registered-fan pre-sale opening immediately, the regular public sale starting on 11 September, day prices from €69 in Düsseldorf and €79 in Mannheim, and the Schalke opener set for about 62,000 capacity with roughly 50,000 tickets already allocated and a reserved IIHF/Infront block.
  • Broadcasters ProSieben will show all German games live free-to-air with extra matches on ProSieben MAXX and streaming on Joyn; organisers stressed the high-profile opener and venue split aim to boost the home campaign after Germany's 2026 early exit and follow the 2010 Schalke precedent while also driving local economic activity in Mannheim and Düsseldorf.
