Overview

• In August 2025, German accommodation providers logged 59.4 million overnight stays, a 0.7% increase from August 2024, according to preliminary Destatis data.
• Domestic guests accounted for 49.7 million overnight stays in August, up 1.6% year over year, while stays by foreign guests fell 3.8% to 9.8 million.
• For January through August 2025, total overnight stays reached 339.2 million, a marginal 0.1% below the record 339.4 million in the same period of 2024.
• Year to date, domestic overnight stays rose 0.6% to 282.7 million as foreign guest stays declined 3.1% to 56.5 million.
