Germany Names Nine Acts for Eurovision Final as Sarah Engels Enters With 'Fire'

SWR unveils a nine-act field after a research-driven overhaul of Germany's Eurovision selection.

Overview

  • ARD/SWR confirmed the lineup for “Eurovision Song Contest – Das Deutsche Finale 2026,” airing live on 28 February at 20:15 CET on Das Erste and in the ARD Mediathek, hosted by Barbara Schöneberger and Hazel Brugger.
  • The field includes Sarah Engels with “Fire” alongside wavvyboi, Ragazzki, Dreamboys The Band, BELA, Laura Nahr, Malou Lovis, Molly Sue and MYLE.
  • During the broadcast, an international jury of 20 experts will choose three finalists before a public vote selects Germany’s representative for Vienna.
  • SWR says the entries were chosen through a multi-stage process featuring songwriting camps, expert and international juries, and market-research simulations.
  • A roughly 35-second preview of Engels’ “Fire” circulated online and is under review by RTL’s verification team, with the Eurovision final set for 16 May in Vienna as several countries boycott over Israel’s participation.
