Overview

• The Agriculture Ministry’s early estimate puts the 2025 harvest at about 13.4 million tonnes, up 5.3% from 2024 and 17% above the multi-year average.
• Sown area increased 6.7% year over year to 301,000 hectares, marking the highest acreage in 25 years.
• Average yield is about 44 tonnes per hectare, roughly 5% above the long-run mean and slightly below last year’s very strong level.
• Farmgate returns for table potatoes are currently about one third lower than a year ago as the larger crop reaches markets.
