Germany Braces for Cold, Wet Week with Snow in Higher Elevations

Snowfall is expected primarily in higher elevations, such as the Alps, Black Forest, and Mittelgebirge, where up to 20 cm of snow could accumulate in some areas.
Drivers are warned of potential glatteis (black ice) on roads, particularly during nighttime and early morning hours when temperatures drop below freezing.
Regions like North Rhine-Westphalia, Bavaria, and Baden-Württemberg will see a mix of rain, snow, and snowgrains, with the snowline lowering to around 400 meters in some areas.
Windy conditions, including stürmische Böen (stormy gusts), are forecast for northern and higher-altitude regions, adding to travel challenges.
