Germany Announces Key Policy Changes for 2025

New regulations and adjustments impact postal services, transportation, wages, and social benefits starting January 1, 2025.

Postal services will see increased costs, with standard letter postage rising to 95 cents and slower delivery times required by law starting in 2025.
The Deutschlandticket for public transportation will increase from €49 to €58 per month, with further price adjustments under discussion.
Social benefits are being adjusted, including a €5 increase in child benefits to €255 per child and a 3.5% projected pension increase starting July 2025.
The minimum wage will rise to €12.82 per hour, and the monthly earnings cap for mini-jobs will increase to €556.
New consumer protections include stricter rules for internet speed guarantees and faster removal of negative credit entries for resolved payment delays.
