German Tourist Found Alive After 3 Days Missing in Zimbabwean Safari Park
German tourist Andreas Hoberg found alive in Matusadona National Park, Zimbabwe, after his car reportedly broke down during a solo game drive in the wildlife-rich zone known for poor phone signal and home to lions, leopards, elephants and buffalo.
- Andreas Hoberg, a German tourist, was reported missing at Zimbabwe's Matusadona National Park where he was last seen stopping at a park shop to purchase a drink before embarking on a game drive.
- Hoberg's car rental company could not trace his location using the onboard GPS, causing concern as the Matusadona National Park is a predator-filled zone known for poor phone signal, making it almost impossible to reach him.
- A search operation was initiated on Monday involving a rescue team, other tourists, a helicopter, several vehicles, and sniffer dogs to locate Hoberg.
- On Tuesday, three days after his disappearance, Hoberg was found 'alive and well', reportedly stating that his car had suffered a mechanical fault.
- Matusadona National Park, where Hoberg was based, is home to four of the 'big five' animals that tourists often seek to spot on safaris -- elephants, lions, buffalo, and leopards -- and visitors are warned to be careful.
