German Tourism Hits Record High Despite Economic Slowdown

Overnight stays in Germany surpass pre-pandemic levels, reflecting strong domestic and international travel demand.

Germany recorded 465.3 million overnight stays from January to November 2024, the highest ever for this period, exceeding pre-COVID-19 figures from 2019.
In November alone, 32.3 million overnight stays were reported, a 4.8% increase compared to the same month in 2023.
Domestic travelers accounted for 26.6 million overnight stays in November, a 4.9% increase, while international visitors contributed 5.7 million stays, up by 4.2%.
Tourism growth persisted despite economic challenges and inflation, highlighting the prioritization of travel spending by German residents.
The statistics include data from larger establishments with at least 10 overnight accommodations, with notable growth observed across hotels, guesthouses, and campsites.
