German Special Effects Artist Gerd Nefzer Wins Third Oscar

Gerd Nefzer won his third Oscar for visual effects in Denis Villeneuve's 'Dune: Part Two,' alongside colleagues Paul Lambert, Stephen James, and Rhys Salcombe.
Nefzer previously received Oscars for 'Blade Runner 2049' in 2018 and 'Dune: Part One' in 2022, cementing his reputation in the industry.
The 59-year-old artist, originally trained in agricultural engineering, transitioned to special effects through his family's business in the 1980s.
'Dune: Part Two,' a visually stunning sci-fi epic, was filmed in locations including Jordan, Abu Dhabi, and Budapest, with many effects created on-site rather than digitally.
Nefzer's achievements place him among a select group of Germans with multiple Oscars, including André Previn and Hans Dreier.
