- The Karl-May-Spiele in Bad Segeberg opens June 28 with the premiere of western drama “Halbblut” featuring Alexander Klaws, Sonja Kirchberger and Francis Fulton-Smith, following last year’s turnout of 445,000 visitors.
- The Rheingau Musikfestival runs June 21 to September 6 with 154 concerts at 27 venues and features artists such as Gianna Nannini, Anne-Sophie Mutter, Revolverheld and Laith Al-Deen.
- Münchner Opernfestspiele marks its 150th anniversary from June 27 to July 31 with a new “Don Giovanni” directed by David Herrmann, with an open-air “Oper für alle” projection on July 6.
- Bayreuther Festspiele stages Wagner’s “Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg” from July 25 to August 26 under musical-theater director Matthias Davids, with Christian Thielemann returning to conduct “Lohengrin.”
- Schleswig-Holstein Musik Festival celebrates its 40th edition from July 5 to August 31 with more than 200 concerts in around 125 venues, focusing on Istanbul’s music scene alongside 17 performances by pianist Fazıl Say.
