Overview

• Ernst Kahl died on July 5 in Schwabstedt after a long illness, according to a joint announcement by the Caricatura Museum Frankfurt, Titanic magazine and Kunstmannverlag.
• Over a 50-year career he worked as a painter, cartoonist, film scriptwriter and musician, uniting old-master techniques with irreverent comedy.
• He co-wrote the screenplay for Werner – Beinhart! and collaborated with Detlev Buck on the Bundesfilmpreis–winning Wir können auch anders….
• His cartoons and illustrations appeared in leading publications including Die Zeit and Süddeutsche Zeitung.
