German Ruling Bloc Sinks to New Low in INSA Poll as AfD Leads

Fresh INSA data shows the governing bloc short of a Bundestag majority.

Overview

  • The CDU/CSU slips to 24 percent and the SPD to 14 percent, putting the coalition at a record-low 38 percent since May.
  • The AfD holds at 26 percent, remaining the largest single party in the snapshot.
  • Die Linke rises to 12 percent, edging past the Greens on 11 percent.
  • BSW and the FDP both register 4 percent, below the 5 percent hurdle for Bundestag representation.
  • The survey interviewed 1,186 adults from Sept. 29 to Oct. 2 with a ±2.9 point margin of error, and INSA’s Hermann Binkert says the coalition stands six points shy of a majority.
