German Prosecutors Charge Iraqi Man Over Planned IS Bomb Attack

The suspect, accused of plotting a terror attack in Germany, allegedly joined the Islamic State in 2016.

The German Federal Prosecutor's Office has charged an Iraqi man with planning a bomb attack in Germany on behalf of the Islamic State.
The accused, Mahmoud A., allegedly joined the Islamic State in Iraq in 2016 and later operated in Turkey until 2022.
He reportedly researched bomb-making techniques online and acquired necessary chemicals and components for an explosive device.
Authorities arrested the suspect in June 2024 in Esslingen am Neckar, preventing the execution of the attack.
The State Security Senate of the Stuttgart Higher Regional Court will decide whether to proceed with a trial.
