Overview

  • Berlin’s outdoor pools recorded around 760,000 visits since April, about 110,000 fewer than last year, leading Berliner Bäder-Betriebe to scale back security staffing on cooler days.
  • Dresdner Bäder’s nine outdoor facilities saw just 160,000 visits through July, less than half the 364,500 recorded in the same period of 2024, according to spokesperson Lars Kühl.
  • Stadtwerke München now shut all outdoor pools when temperatures fall below 20 °C based on Bavarian Radio forecasts to minimize energy and staffing expenses.
  • In North Rhine-Westphalia, Bottrop’s Stenkhoffbad has reduced weekday hours to 12:00–18:00 and the Freibad Kahla in Saale-Holzland-Kreis has been closed due to persistent rain.
  • Operators report no significant influx of visitors into indoor pools despite outdoor facility closures and reduced hours.
