Authorities suspect that dozens of liters of waste oil may have been intentionally introduced into the ship's drinking water system.
The discovery was made on Thursday when approximately 50 liters of waste oil were found in the flushing system of a contractor's suction vehicle, prompting military and civilian investigations.
This marks the third recent sabotage suspicion targeting German naval vessels, following incidents involving severed cables on a minehunter and metal debris in the propulsion system of the corvette Emden.
Military police and civilian authorities are collaborating to determine the circumstances and potential perpetrators of the alleged sabotage.
