Overview
- The fatal accident occurred Thursday afternoon on the Troi de le Calade (Sentiero 500) in the Bosconero group near Cortina d'Ampezzo.
 - Reports say the man, hiking with friends, suddenly lost his balance, fell roughly 80 meters into a rocky canyon, slid about 20 meters, and struck a tree.
 - One companion placed the emergency call as the SUEM/Pieve di Cadore rescue helicopter deployed and a doctor and technician were winched to the scene.
 - Rescuers could only confirm the death at the site, and the body was recovered after authorization by the prosecutor; the group later took refuge at Rifugio Bosconero.
 - Authorities have not released the victim’s age or origin, and the case adds to a string of recent Alpine fatalities including a German tourist who died at a waterfall near Noasca earlier this week.
