Overview
- The couple left their accommodation in Mayrhofen around 12:00 for an app-planned loop toward Stilluptal, the Ginzling gorge and Dornau.
- They strayed into unmarked, difficult ground, and at about 15:15 the woman slipped on wet rock and moss and fell roughly 70 meters.
- Her 26-year-old companion could not reach her, called emergency services and was hoisted out by helicopter uninjured.
- Rescuers spotted the victim from the air and lowered an emergency doctor, who pronounced her dead at the scene, with polytrauma reported as the cause.
- The response included Bergrettung Mayrhofen, alpine police, rescue helicopter Heli 4, a crisis intervention team and local police, and authorities have opened an inquiry.
