German Handball Captain Johannes Golla to Rejoin MT Melsungen in 2026

After eight years with SG Flensburg-Handewitt, Golla will return to his training club on a five-year contract starting summer 2026.

Johannes Golla, captain of Germany's national handball team, will leave SG Flensburg-Handewitt at the end of his contract in 2026 to return to MT Melsungen, his original training club.
MT Melsungen, currently leading the Handball-Bundesliga, announced a five-year deal with Golla, extending through June 2031.
Golla, who joined Flensburg in 2018, expressed mixed emotions about the move, citing his love for the club and city but feeling it is time for a new chapter.
Melsungen's sports director, Michael Allendorf, highlighted Golla’s leadership and influence as valuable assets for the club and its younger players.
Before his departure, Golla has pledged full commitment to Flensburg, with his next match against MT Melsungen determining a spot in the DHB-Pokal Final Four.
