• The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has announced its shortlists for the 2024 Oscars, with several German films and artists well represented.
• The Ukraine war film '20 Days in Mariupol', directed by Pulitzer Prize-winning Ukrainian journalist Mstyslav Chernov, has been shortlisted in both the documentary and international feature categories.
• Jonathan Glazer's British entry, the Holocaust drama 'The Zone of Interest', starring German actress Sandra Hüller, is also in contention for the best international feature Oscar.
• The award-winning German psychological drama, 'The Teachers’ Lounge', and 'Perfect Days', a film by veteran German director Wim Wenders, have also made the shortlist.
