German Electronics Industry Reports Sharp Decline in Orders and Revenue for 2024

Orders for Germany's electronics and digital industry fell by 9.6% in 2024 compared to the previous year, according to the ZVEI industry association.
December 2024 was particularly challenging, with a 19.5% drop in orders compared to December 2023, nearly double the average monthly decline for the year.
Domestic orders experienced a steeper decline than orders from abroad, highlighting regional economic difficulties.
Production in the sector decreased by 9.1% in 2024, and forecasts for 2025 predict a further 2% decline in real production output.
Revenue for the industry, which employs 892,000 people in Germany, fell to €223.2 billion in 2024, a 6.2% decrease from the record high achieved in 2023.
