German Court Bars Ex-RAF Members from Visiting Daniela Klette in Prison

The Federal Court of Justice fears that the visits could aid in escape plans or contact with fugitive accomplices.

Daniela Klette, a former member of the Red Army Faction (RAF), is in custody at Vechta prison in Lower Saxony.
The Federal Court of Justice has prohibited visits from former RAF members Günter Sonnenberg and Karl-Heinz Dellwo to Klette.
Authorities are concerned that these visits might facilitate escape plans or communication with Klette's fugitive accomplices.
Klette was apprehended in February 2024 after warning her accomplice Burkhard Garweg, who remains at large.
The State Prosecutor's Office in Verden continues to investigate Klette for attempted murder and robbery, which she denies.
