Overview
- The cabinet authorized the signing of a Political Agreement among the DOSB, the applicant regions Berlin, Hamburg, Munich/Bavaria and Rhein-Ruhr, and the Federal Chancellery.
- The agreement is scheduled to be signed on 4 December by the chancellor, the DOSB president and leaders from Bavaria, North Rhine-Westphalia, Berlin, Hamburg and Munich.
- The government also endorsed a National Vision that sketches nine fields of action to guide the joint Olympic and Paralympic bid.
- The DOSB members’ meeting on 6 December in Frankfurt will set the process for choosing Germany’s candidate.
- The DOSB plans to select the national candidate in autumn 2026, with Munich already approving hosting in a 66.4% referendum, Berlin opting against a vote, and Hamburg, Rhein-Ruhr and Kiel planning ballots next year.
