German Bicycle Sales Decline in 2024, E-Bike Prices Drop

The bicycle industry faces challenges from overproduction, reduced demand, and longer product lifespans, despite high E-Bike adoption.

Germany's bicycle sales and production fell in 2024, with total sales dropping 2.5% compared to 2023 and revenue decreasing by 10.3% to €6.33 billion.
E-Bike sales outpaced traditional bicycles for the second consecutive year, with 2.05 million E-Bikes sold versus 1.8 million traditional bikes.
Average E-Bike prices fell by €300 to €2,650, while non-motorized bicycles saw a slight price increase to €500 on average.
Overproduction during the pandemic and the longer lifespan of E-Bikes have led to excessive inventory, with 15.7 million E-Bikes now in circulation in Germany.
Despite challenges, the industry remains optimistic about future growth, with the total bicycle count in Germany reaching 88.7 million, exceeding the population of 83.6 million.
