Overview

  • The ADAC warns that the convergence of holiday returns after Fronleichnam and the end of Pfingstferien will generate heavy weekend traffic on Germany’s main motorways.
  • From Friday at 22:00 until Sunday 20:00 the A1 between Lübeck and Hamburg will be closed southbound for bridge construction, with drivers diverted via the A20, B207 and A24.
  • Simultaneous summer breaks in Saxony, Saxony-Anhalt and Thuringia will spur outbound traffic on the A4, A9, A13, A17 and A72 starting Friday.
  • Motorists should also anticipate slowdowns on southern routes such as the A5, A6, A7, A8 and A81 and on international corridors toward the North and Baltic coasts, Croatia, Poland, the Czech Republic and the Netherlands.
  • Dozens of ongoing construction projects across multiple autobahn sections ahead of planned infrastructure upgrades are set to prolong travel times throughout the weekend.
