Overview

  • Five additional states—Bremen, Niedersachsen, Hessen, Rheinland-Pfalz and Saarland—begin summer school holidays July 4–6, prompting ADAC and ACE to predict widespread jams.
  • ADAC and ACE expect severe congestion on principal corridors including the A1, A2, A3, A5, A6, A7, A8, A9, A61, A72, A81, A93, A95 and A99.
  • Around 1,200 active construction sites and planned full closures such as the Elbtunnel on the A7 will add further delays on key stretches.
  • Reinforced German border controls at Suben (A3), Walserberg (A8) and Kiefersfelden (A93) are likely to slow transit routes through Austria and Switzerland.
  • Motorists are advised to travel on Monday or Tuesday, avoid peak commute hours and plan alternative routes while keeping an eye on real-time traffic updates.
