German Authorities Seize 316 Kilograms of Marijuana in Major Drug Bust
Six suspects were arrested in a coordinated operation targeting an international drug trafficking network linked to Canada and the United States.
- Authorities conducted a large-scale raid in Saxony and Saxony-Anhalt, involving 200 officers from multiple agencies.
- The operation led to the seizure of 316 kilograms of marijuana, €172,000 in cash, a Glock 19 pistol with 41 rounds, and four luxury vehicles.
- Six individuals, aged 27 to 51, were arrested and are suspected of being part of an 11-member drug trafficking group.
- The investigation began in May 2024 after the discovery of 60 kilograms of Canadian marijuana in Erfurt, which led to uncovering the network's operations in the Leipzig/Halle region
- The case is being handled by the Joint Drug Investigation Task Force and the Gera State Prosecutor's Office, which specializes in organized crime.
