Overview
- Gerard Johnstone has officially been tapped to helm the Monster High movie in partnership with Universal Pictures, Mattel Studios and Akiva Goldsman’s Weed Road banner.
- The film will feature an original narrative drawn from the 2010 doll franchise about high school students who are the children of legendary monsters.
- Robbie Brenner and Akiva Goldsman will produce the project alongside Mattel’s Arturo Thur de Koós, Weed Road’s Greg Lessans and Universal executives Lexi Barta and Jacqueline Garell.
- Johnstone is best known for directing the horror hits M3GAN and M3GAN 2.0, which together grossed over $180 million worldwide, as well as the cult comedy Housebound.
- Monster High is one of at least 15 Mattel Studios titles in development as the company expands its slate of toy-based film adaptations.
