Georgia Woman Arrested for Shooting Spree on Florida Interstate During Solar Eclipse

On Monday, Taylon Nichelle Celestine, a 22-year-old woman from Georgia, was arrested after allegedly shooting two drivers on a Florida interstate, claiming she was instructed by God during the solar eclipse.
Celestine, who was driving a purple Dodge Challenger, told hotel staff about her God-directed mission related to the solar eclipse before embarking on the shooting spree.
She was charged with attempted murder, aggravated battery with a deadly weapon, and improper discharge of a firearm, after law enforcement officials found an AR-15 rifle and a 9mm handgun in her vehicle.
The incident occurred during the total solar eclipse of 2024, a historic celestial event that won't be visible across the contiguous US again until August 2044.
The Florida Highway Patrol is investigating the case, with Celestine's mental state being considered in the potential prosecution or sentencing.
