Georgia Voters Decide Two Public Service Commission Seats Today

Voters will choose regulators whose decisions shape electricity and gas costs.

Overview

  • Polls are open statewide from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., with City of Atlanta precincts open until 8 p.m. under a court order.
  • Public Service Commission ballots close at 7 p.m., so votes cast after 7 p.m. in Atlanta will not count for the PSC races.
  • The contests feature District 2 incumbent Republican Tim Echols vs. Democrat Alicia Johnson and District 3 incumbent Republican Fitz Johnson vs. Democrat Peter Hubbard.
  • All registered Georgia voters are eligible to vote in both PSC races regardless of district.
  • Concerns over rising electricity costs — including six Georgia Power price increases in roughly two years — have made the races a focal point, with results expected later tonight.
