Georgia Teens Charged with Aggravated Assault on Officer After Escape

The two juveniles, aged 14 and 15, overpowered a deputy, stole his firearm, and fired at him during their escape.

Two teenage boys, aged 14 and 15, charged as adults with aggravated assault on a police officer after escaping custody and firing at an officer.
The incident occurred in Georgia as the teens were being transported to a youth detention center.
They managed to overpower a Jenkins County Deputy, steal his .45-caliber handgun, and shoot three rounds in his direction.
The officer was knocked unconscious during the attack but is now safely recovering.
The investigation is active and ongoing, with the case to be reviewed by the Augusta Judicial Circuit District Attorney’s Office.
